My name is Benjamin ‘Ben’ Wright, a passionate tobacco connoisseur and expert, currently residing in the rolling countryside of Virginia, USA, surrounded by historic tobacco plantations. This fascinating industry has been the primary focus of my life’s work, and I’m excited to share my experiences with you all.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor of working with some of the biggest names in the tobacco industry. I started off as a junior cultivator with British American Tobacco, learning the art of tobacco cultivation and processing from the ground up. Then, I took my experiences to Philip Morris International, where I worked as a quality control expert, ensuring that every product that rolled out was of the highest quality.
My passion and dedication towards this industry were recognized when I was awarded the “Outstanding Contribution in Tobacco Research” by the International Tobacco Growers’ Association in 2021. In 2022, I was also invited to speak at the World Tobacco Symposium, an accomplishment that I hold dear, as it allowed me to share my knowledge with a wider audience.
Beyond my professional life, I’m an avid reader and have a penchant for classic literature – there’s something incredibly peaceful about settling down with a good book after a long day. I also enjoy gardening, which, as you might guess, includes a small personal tobacco plantation. It’s a labor of love, and it connects me deeply to the very roots of the industry I serve.
